Probably completely random but I was reading CNN yesterday at work and they did a report on how biting is the new fad for teenagers showing affection.
I'm just sick of the whole twilight fad. Vampires are not supposed to sparkle or talk about love in such a manner that reminds me of those cheesy romance novels that revolve around Fabio's buffed up chest.
I've actually had a friend who broke up with her boyfriend because "he wasn't like Edward." I don't understand what's so great about him. From his dialog in the books, he sounds more like a suicidal over-emotional teen who die if you break up with him or just stalk you for the next few weeks.
I guess I find it unappealing how a fantasy series can be taken so seriously and become incorporated into every day life in such an unhealthy way. Don't get me wrong, I love fantasy novels and wishing it could actually happen but I'm not going to go out and reenact what I wish was reality.
If I did, I would make Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters all day. (HGG reference)
I don't know why I feel the need to rant about Twilight. I think it just over romanticized and ruined mainstreaming Otherkin for me.
If you're a huge twilight fan, sorry this is my rant. Feel free to rant it up. Just no PDB (public displays of biting) lol

Yeah, I've seen those people too who claim to be vampires. Mostly youtube clips. If you get a chance check out the Tyra show when she interviews vampires. I think one or two I can see being actual vampires but the others, as far as I can remember, just reminded me of people who just have a blood fetish and play up to theatrics. One of them had surgically installed fangs.
I just don't see how physically altering your body is going to make you feel more like your intended creature. In the end, it's all temporary cosmetics. It's all theatrics anyways. But entertaining.
I met a guy in real life who claimed he was a vampire. He had a few screws lose as far as I could tell. We're all a little crazy just some more than others.

Yeah the whole vamp. vs. weres thing, I don't know how that came into pop culture. Maybe they just don't mesh well. Personal space or territory. I myself am territorial on just about anything.
But it certainly does make $$$$$ in Hollywood.
