Greetings, people of Werecats Anonymous. I am new to all this, really excited, and a bit nervous. I believe I may be an ailuranthrope but, being a skeptic, am not completely sure.
I recently (within the last couple weeks) learned about therianthropy, though I've been fascinated by werecats since long before that. I've been doing research ever since the idea of therianthropy pounced on me, and.. well, I've decided it is worth looking deeper into... Yes, yes, I'm a natural skeptic.
I've always felt a strong connection with cats. When I was younger I was convinced I actually was a cat, went around on all fours, licked myself, pounced things, etc. 'Course, that may just be an imaginative kid thing, though I did this for about a year. I also vaguely remember catching a bird... The memory is really fuzzy though so perhaps it is just something I imagined at one point in time. Though my great great grandmother found a dead bird in her greenhouse, feet tied together with wire, and that is what I remember happening... Really, the thought that I did that sort of disgusts me now that I'm older. But yeah...
I'm a dog lover. Just about all my life I've loved dogs a bit more than cats. Maybe because I've just always had them around, but... -shrug- Despite this, I feel closer to cats, especially in the past few months. Whenever I write (yes, I love writing) I've never written anything with dogs in it, cat characters just come more naturally.
Anyways, after looking into all this, I decided to start "getting my feet wet". During the past week I've spent time thinking really hard about it all, evaluating my natural reactions and habits, and, during the past few days, allowing myself to edge along M-shifting. I think there may be something to this, partly because I've felt really alive since I've begun research into this. Maybe my cat side getting excited I'm finally recognizing it as something real? I don't know.
By the way, if anyone has tips on ways to help you find out if you really are a therian or not, and what TYPE of therian you are, I'd appreciate the input...
In other news... I enjoy drawing, writing, drama, dance, pretty much any animal, nature, exploring, geocaching... Yep. ^.^
