...And I thought I was always indecisive. Funny that despite all this discussion no one has voted in the poll. Not that I'm one to talk I've only been here a few days, but the forum seems great to me. Not that I would mind a move either. The main drawback in my mind would be the inability to move the old posts to the new forum. Then again, maybe that would stimulate new discussions If WCA did move, would a message be left here at least for a while to let members who haven't been around for a while know where everyone went?

Either way would be fine for me, really. Although I am quite happy with the way it is on here already, the new host does sound very appealing. I agree with Bramble on the idea of keeping a message on here for a while if the site does move as many members don't log on frequently.

Yes I agree as well ... I mean If we do move , It wont really bother me , but I am quite settled in here and comfortable , heck I love WCA the way it is ... But then again , whatever easiest ... (whatever you prefer , and sorry for saying the same thing again ^^; ) . But for me , No , I like it here the way it is ... (Still just to say , If we do move , I don't really mind , but I do like it here ) . And to ad , yeah I agree too , that a message , news of whats going on , or important is pretty good , useful ... Good .

We're getting mixed signals on moving the forum. In this thread, the overall feel is "don't move -- we like it here". And yet, in the poll, 75% of those who voted wish to move forums. So I have an idea that will serve two purposes at once! I've been setting up a forum on another domain that I control, and I'm really liking the admin interface. But I want to see how others like it. forum.cacherzonline.com/Please register for an account there and play around with the options as you like. I've installed a bunch of great themes (all of which I can tweak to our feline hearts' content), and there are a bunch of other themes also available. To change themes, go to "Profile" and then click "Look and Layout Preferences". Where it says "Current theme" click the link that says "Change" and you can preview each theme before you try it. My favorites are Orange Live, Efsane, and Black Rain v3. Let me know what you think of the forum as a whole, and also as a possible replacement for this one. Enjoy!

Surprisingly, this website is flagged by my laptop as a danger, and that it could harm my computer :S
My dad had a look and told me not to go back on >.< and I don't wanna wreck my laptop, so I'm afraid I'm unable to comment on the website. But I say no if it's gonna give viruses lol.

I'd like to know why it said it was a danger. I can assure you beyond any doubt that it is not a danger. Sorry that you can't look, though.

There's a little box at the top of my screen in the right hand corner from Avast saying "Warning- this site may harm your computer. We advise you leave now."
Maybe I can get round it, I'll try looking at my settings.

Capsha, I have to thank you for the best laugh all day!!! Let me walk you through my discovery. You say that Avast is telling you there is a security risk on the test forum I set up. I'm familiar with Avast, as I used to use it on my Windows machine. I went to check out their site -- maybe they would tell me why you're having problems with it. First place I went was to their Support button. Absolutely nothing in their knowledge base about problems with Simple Machines Forum (SMF), which is the forum package that I am using. So I went to the second link -- a user forum. Certainly someone who has been using SMF has had a similar problem and can tell me what it is that's causing your problems! Please take a look at their forum and tell me the very first thing that stands out at you -- forum.avast.com/. The very first thing that stood out to me is in the upper right-hand corner. (http://forum.avast.com/Themes/default/images/smflogo.gif) That's right. Avast uses SMF to run their own user forum, and yet throws a security error when you try to visit my copy of SMF!!!!! I'm still laughing, and it's good medicine.

My resident geek suggests VanillaForums.org. He says the aesthetics are pleasant and customization is easy. I don't know much about coding, but he's a web designer, so I thought I'd at least get his two cents' worth. His caveat is that he's never done bulletin boards, but they've left a good impression in the past.
In the end, $12 a year is more cost-effective than the current arrangement. Does that include the domain and hosting? Or is that just the domain? Also, I'm sure you know this Kaelan, but GoDaddy makes me cry. Can we not go there if the move happens?

His caveat is that he's never done bulletin boards, but they've left a good impression in the past. Thanks for suggesting that forum service. Like your friend, I am also a web programmer, which is one of the reasons that I'm in favor of a different forum service. We can't do anything on this forum, like see how many active users we currently have! ((If I could tell how many of us were active, I could figure out what percentage of us have commented on the move!)) While the free forum service you suggested gives us a lot more options, it is still ad-driven and offers no storage space (which are two more reasons we wanted to move). We've set up a test forum over at forum.cacherzonline.com for people to go try and see what they think of it. This is what Capsha's been having trouble viewing... In the end, $12 a year is more cost-effective than the current arrangement. Does that include the domain and hosting? Or is that just the domain? Also, I'm sure you know this Kaelan, but GoDaddy makes me cry. Can we not go there if the move happens? The current arrangement is actually free, but it comes with a lot of limitations. The $7/month is to make this forum (with all of it's limitations) ad-free. The $12 per year is for the domain only. Hosting would be on our current host, which is not GoDaddy. While it's not free, we wouldn't charge you guys to use it. We wouldn't turn away any well-intentioned donations that you might want to send our way.

Kaelan,
Did you take the test forum down? I tried it last night and this morning and I'm just getting a page saying that the page I am looking for can not be found.
